My job

Every Tuesday I leave the house at 6:30am and get home at 8pm. It's a very long day and I don't see Grant at all on Tuesdays. But at least I get to do something I love and that is be a labor and delivery nurse at BBMC. I think pregnancy/labor/delivery is the most amazing thing in the world. I love being a part of it. Some patients are great, others are not, but for the most part, it's a rewarding job. The rest of the week I get to be home taking care of Grant. What more could I ask? I feel so blessed to not have to work full-time outside of the home. I feel blessed that Sean has a good job. There is so much to be thankful for.

Around the house...

(This picture is supposed to go at the end of the post. Sorry.)

We've done a couple of projects (or paid to have them done).

1. Finger puppets and sock puppets

2. Inexpensive wall art

3. Carriage lights (There was nothing here before and our front yard was so dark at night.) Not anymore!!
4. Covered patio: All that was here when we bought the place was the concrete slab. We had the patio covered the whole length of the house. Now we can enjoy the shade and the extra space for eating, grilling, playing, etc. The fans keep it cool too.

I Love Arizona in March

I think March is my favorite month in Arizona. It is perfect weather!! In the last few days we've done some fun things that we thought we'd share. And the best part is, everything was free!!

Today we went to the clubhouse and enjoyed our first time swimming this season. The water was slightly heated (otherwise it would be pretty chilly still) and Grant loved it. Problem is, we can't get him to stop chewing on his fingers to get a decent picture. =)
Yesterday we met up with Natalie and Norine and had a picnic at the park. Yummy Subway sandwiches, a cool breeze in the shade, and great company--what could be better?

Last Saturday my mom found out about a free "open house" at the old air force base which is now a small commercial airport. They had tons of planes on display and you could get in, take pictures, ask the pilots questions. They had a little air show too. It was really more fun than I expected it to be. They had a free rock climbing wall, free refreshments, and entertainment. It was fabulous. We are definitely going again next year. I think Grant will enjoy it more when he's a little older.

Well March is off to a great start. Here's to more fun in the coming weeks.
P.S. Happy St. Patrick's day a little early. =)

14 Months

Our little Grant is 14 months old as of yesterday. Wow he is growing up. Each day he seems more like a little boy and less like a baby. Here are a few tid bits about Grant right now.

  • His hair is getting curlier in the back and I think it's pretty cute. Sean comments everyday that Grant needs a hair cut, but until Grant decides to sit still when I pull out the shears, his hair will remain long.

  • He is a walking machine!! He is all over now and loves the freedom. He seems less fussy in general because he is more independent and can explore the upstairs on his own. (Now that we have a gate of course.)

  • Grant loves to mimick sounds that Sean or I make. He says "mama", "dada", "nana" (for banana), and "yummy". If I say "yaba daba dooooooo" he looks at me and repeats "doooo". It's fun that he's starting to interact more.

  • Grant absolutely loves grapefruit. Weird huh? He eats one pretty much everyday. I just slice it in half and spoon out the pieces for him. He gobbles it up without anything on it.
  • Everytime we go outside and sit in the grass he tries to eat leaves, rocks, and anything he can get his hands on. He swallowed a muddy leaf the other day before I could grab it from him. Yuck.
  • Grant now has 8 teeth. I bought him a little toothbrush and he loves to suck on it. Hopefully it's doing some brushing while he's at it.
  • Grant refuses to drink from a sippy cup. He only wants to use real cups. This is such a hassle because he gets soaked pretty much everytime he drinks anything. Silly boy.
  • Since we got a new, forward-facing carseat Grant is enjoying the view. He's always very calm in the car as he watches the world move by. We ended up getting the Graco My Ride 65. Hopefully we'll love it as much as we loved our Chicco infant carseat.
