Family History

It's one of my "family history" goals to get professional portraits of each of my kids at least yearly, possibly around their birthday. When the school years come around that'll probably just mean school picture day, but for now it means another visit to JCPenney. They seem to do a good job, they are kid-friendly, and they are very economical. So last month we went in for Grant's 2-year pictures. He really had a hard time standing in front of the lights and camera without me right next to him. Hopefully next year will be better. =) These are the best ones we got. (And they are scanned images of the originals but only for posting here, not for printing.) =) And we tried to bribe him with mints which is why you can see a white circle in his mouth in the third picture.

What a big, grown-up boy, I can't believe it.

For fun...

...I've been going on long walks with mom, feeding the ducks...

...walking around the swap meet holding hands with my best friend (and cousin) Lucas...

...and getting my hair cut. Mom used the buzzers this time and I had to be so brave to let her do it. The sucker in each hand helped a little bit but I was still really nervous. Now I look so grown up don't I?

Surprise, Surprise!!

Here is a profile shot of our baby's head and torso. I think I can already tell that baby inherited Sean's big lips. =)

Yesterday I had a regular OB appointment. Everything looks great and healthy for which I am so grateful. The doctor surprised me when he wanted to do another quick ultrasound to check dates. He asked me if I wanted to know the gender. I was all alone but how could I resist? I didn't want to wait another month or so for another appointment to be made. So I said "sure". He did the ultrasound. Baby is measuring well for the set due date and was moving all over the place--so fun to watch! And of course we took a quick peak down south and to my surprise, baby #2 is a boy!!! I couldn't believe it but I am so happy. I called Sean because I knew he couldn't wait to find out. We're thrilled. He and Grant were right all along while I thought it was a girl this whole time. Shows how far my motherly instinct goes huh?

Here's me and baby boy at 14 weeks
