Two Birthdays Plus More

Last week Sean and I celebrated both our birthdays. We've come to realize that after about age 24, birthdays lose some excitement but we tried to do some fun things to spice up the days. On my birthday I went out to breakfast with Norine and Natalie and enjoyed some yummy Joe's Farm Grill grub. I also discovered the most delicious juice in the world--Naked! (Too bad it's so expensive. $4 for a little container--I don't think so.) Then for dinner Sean took me out to Cheesecake Factory and we stuffed ourselves with yummy food and then of course we had to share a piece of White Chocolate, Raspberry Truffle cheesecake. Wow. All I can say is we should've saved more room in our bellies. We were so full!
Me and my two boys on my birthday.

On another night we took both boys to Red Robin (to get our free birthday burgers). Going out to eat is fairly rare these days since every penny we have is going to school (more on that below). And to take the kids with us is even more rare--they probably go out to eat once, maybe twice a year. But we had fun and they both ate really well.
And other random happenings at our house...
Preston pulls up on everything, walks along furniture, and is getting pretty destructive. He stands at the train table and just pulls the whole thing apart and throws the pieces off. Such fun. He's happier now that he's mobile and our house is messier too. =)

Grant discovered the excitement of goggles. Funny boy wore them around all morning. He loves to swim, is really comfortable in the water (with floaties still), and jumps into the deep end all on his own.

Grant loves to steal my phone and take pictures of anything and everything. One day he stood in front of Preston begging him to smile for the camera and this is the best he could get. It makes me laugh because Preston looks so very confused at his crazy older brother.

Early in August we went to the mall kids club with cousin Benson and Lucas. It was fun and the kids loved dancing to the music and being silly.

I finally gave in to giving my kids the messiest dinner in the world--spaghetti and meatballs. Turns out they both loved it. Preston flung the noodles onto the walls and floor. We were right out of a bounty paper towel commercial. At least they enjoyed it.

Sean has been extremely busy lately with starting a new job in June and then starting school in July. He's now working in the cooperate accounting world (rather than public accounting) and works for a company called STORE Capital. It's a good move and he is overall happy with the change. He also is in the MBA program through the ASU business school. (Hence all our money going there.) That pretty much takes him away every night from 7-10pm and then 4 hours (ish) on the weekends. It'll all be worth it in the end. Or at least that's what we keep telling ourselves. Here is his professional photo ASU took at orientation. I'm proud of his work ethic and his motivation. He is doing great in school!

Six Years Ago...

Yesterday Sean and I celebrated our six-year wedding anniversary. What happy memories we have from that day. And what happy memories we have from the months and years that have since passed.

Our cloudy wedding day started off with a bang when the 22-story key bank building was imploded right across the street from the Salt Lake Temple. That shook the hotel big time and served as my alarm clock that morning. Luckily it rained shortly after and washed the side walks and the temple clean. The only problem was the roads were closed with police barricades and my hair stylist couldn't get to me. =) Eventually she did and all was well. Six down, eternity to go. It is so much fun being married to my best friend. Here are a few pics to reminisce.

Friends, Fruit, and Museums

August is usually an exciting month with 2 birthdays and 1 anniversary. This month has proved no different and we haven't even reached those holidays yet.

Last week two friends, Kelly and Colette, come to visit us from Utah. It was a quick trip but we enjoyed our long chats, yummy meals, and our Krispy Kreme donuts. Grant really likes these gals and was so sad when they left.

Yesterday I got a major surprise when a delivery man knocked on my door and handed me an "edible arrangements" bouquet sent to me as a "thank you" from a dear friend, Liesel. This was such a fun surprise and absolutely made my day!!

We decided to check out the Tempe History Museum because it was free, wasn't too far away, and has a kids play area. It was actually pretty fun.

Keep the fun times and surprises coming, August!!
