Binky-Free

I can't believe we failed to mention such a momentous occaision in the Oborn family. Grant has been binky-free since Monday, May 23, 2011. Woo hoo!! Since the begining this little boy has LOVED his soothie binky. He needed that "non-nutritive sucking" that many babies crave. We took the binky everywhere because it was always comforting for Grant. When his top four teeth were coming in and the pediatrician said it's time to be done, we had to be strong and get rid of it. I was so worried about nap time and bed time but it turned out great. The first night he cried for 10 minutes when I put him down without the binky. The next night he cried for 5 minutes. And since then...nothing. Easy peasy right? Who needs a binky now? Not us!! Enjoy these images of our sweet boy and his favorite item ever--the binky.

Yes we even resorted to buying a pink one when we couldn't find any at home and that's all the store had in stock. =)

Wow, that's great that he gave it up so easily! Way to go, Grant! :)

Haha, way to go! That's awesome it was so easy. Abram wouldn't ever take a binky...which was frustrating at times, but now I guess we don't have to get rid of it. :)

That's what we did with both Connor and Chloe.. after or before their 1st birthday just took it away cold turkey... the first night was just a little strange but then they totally forget about it!!! I think the best thing is to do is to just get rid of it before they really understand what it is or what's it's called!!! Good work!! Such a good momma!

Good for you guys! I'm so afraid to take Caden's away from him, and I don't know if I better do it before his little brother comes or let him keep it to get through that transition. Got to love those binkies while they are young, though!
