Oh What Fun...

We've had a fabulous Christmas season. We are so blessed to live close to both sides of the family and to share the season with everyone.

On Dec. 23 we braved the crowds to visit the temple lights. Grant was so excited and kept saying, "blue lights, white lights, purple lights." It is neat to have a toddler old enough to (sort of) understand the magic of Christmas and all the season brings. Dave and Liisa flew in to join our festivities and we're so glad they did.

Mr. Grant loves sunglasses and puts them on any chance he gets.

I know it's blurry but I love that I finally captured the sweet, happy, genuine smile of my little boy.

And if you're still here reading, there is a suprise for you...

'Tis the season of Christmas and in our household,

Much excitement is brewing which we haven't told.

On top of the blessings of Christmas this year,

We have some great news for the ones we hold dear.

We will soon be expanding our family of three,

And would like to announce our pregnancy!!!

Halloween Fun!

Last weekend was full of fun Halloween celebrations including our ward Trunk-or-Treat, Sean's parent's Halloween block party, and of course, Halloween night. Grant discovered the world of dum-dums and hasn't looked back.

I bought his pumpkin costume at the used children's store and he actually liked wearing it most of the time. Now the hat was another story. We loved how he could stash his candy in his front pouch and make the pumpkin a bit rounder with every treat. Grant learned to say "trick-or-treat" and sort of understood the whole process.

He loved helping me pass out candy and just giggled with excitment when he saw little kids run to the door.

This is random but I was at the temple a couple of weeks ago and wanted to try and take some pictures just for fun. I think this one looks really nice. (Keep in mind, all I have is a point-n-shoot.)

Love him to pieces!!!

Our baby has grown into a little boy who loves to dig in the dirt, paint himself with fudgecicles, track sand into the house, feed himself, make a mess, and say "no". But this happy, toothy smile makes it all worth it.

Last week Grant and I got to visit with my cousin Jenni and her sweet son Benson. Grant loves babies and wanted to hold Benson. Jenni was kind enough to let him and I think he did a pretty good job. The boys are 17 months apart and will hopefully be good friends.

Just because I love this face...he is giggling and chatting all day long and I love it.

All ready for church in what Grant calls his "daddy shirt". Sean does have a similar shirt so Grant isn't far off, Sean just doesn't wear it to church. =)

Check that off the bucket list

Friday I got to go help out on a YW/YM camping and repelling trip. It was really a lot of fun. I have never repelled before so I had to do it. I was really scared but I knew I would regret not doing it. So here is the proof.

This was the cliff we repelled off of. It was about 160 feet tall and there was a river right below it.

That's me clinging to the rope for dear life.

The hardest part was just getting over the edge of the cliff, then it was smooth sailing.

Fun times!

Labor Day Weekend

Last weekend we took a mini vacation to Phoenix and stayed at the beautiful Arizona Grand Resort. Grant had a slumber party at grandma's house (thanks again) and Sean and I enjoyed the water park that is only open to resort guests. It was a blast. The slides, the lazy river, the water basketball, and the wave pool. It was a great break from life. Of course we don't have a single picture of us on our "vacation" because we were too busy swimming which is not a good environment for a camera.

And other things we've been up to lately...

eating lots of fresh corn on the cob and loving it

playing dress up with other people's glasses

and swinging on our very fun new swing that daddy installed into the patio roof for Grant

Check this out!!

The hospital I work for has implemented corporate-wide policies on inductions and scheduled c-sections. Our work has made TIME magazine. Click on this link to access the article.

I totally agree with this policy. Sometimes we just have to remind the very (sick of being)pregnant women about what's safest for the baby. 39 weeks is key here folks.

Mammoth Creek

We spent all last week in the mountains of southern Utah with the Oborn family. We rented a cabin right on the banks of Mammoth Creek. We spent our days 4-wheeling, hiking, fishing, biking, and walking. We spent our nights playing games, building fires, roasting smores, and chatting. It was a great break from our jobs, our regular responsibilities, and the Arizona heat.
